I am very interested in training opportunities in the future, but disappointed to have a scheduled vacation during the first set of days(20th-22nd) that will prevent me from attending.
Jason, There are currently no talks of going Vista anytime in the near future. Several people have been testing it, but it seems the problems and complications out weigh any benefit of using it.
The system requirements of Vista really limit it’s potential in an environment like ours. It does have some nice features, though I don’t think they’re worth the huge jump in resources Vista consumes over XP. I do run 64 bit Vista at home, but that machine has 6 gigs of RAM.
1 comment on the page design- Maybe make the title & header text a different color? White on lime green is a bit hard to read. Dark green or dark grey on lime might be a little easier on the eyes.

Thank you, Amy, this is a great help. The screen shots are extremely useful and it gave me everything I needed to walk through what is relatively easy (but also a critical and sometimes easy to FUBAR) process! Very much appreciated.

When you submitt the Grover ticket, please indicate whether or not Xerox has been contacted. For example, “Left a message for Xerox.” or “Talked to John at Xerox.”
Seems that without cached mode enabled, some of the inbox search features do not work properly. We are investigating this. In the meantime, you could just use Outlook Web Access as a workaround to prevent having any of these issues.

The size limitation on the mailbox, however, is still in effect. I created my “Retain Forever” folder and then tried to move some old stuff into it (from my personal folders) but immediately exceeded my mailbox limit and was unable to send a new message. Seems like we can’t really add anything to our Mailbox folders of any size until we move to the new system, right?
Yes, the size limitations are still in place for the Smathers Exchange server. You will want to wait to add things from .pst files until after the migration. You can and should create a “retain forever” folder prior to the migration and move the contents of your Inbox there in case you have any items older than 365 days currently stored in your Inbox. The same is true for Sent Items.
I have a questions about #5 in the mapping to a network drive segment of this post. How do we know what the path to_our directory is? And what’s my directory? Thank you…!
The root of the path, “\\sl2k3web1.smatherslib.uflib.int\”, will always be the
same, but the “path to your directory” will be different, depending on whether
your directory is in the LibWeb2, WebDirs, or WebDirs2 partition on the web
server.
For instance, if you want to connect with the web directory for journalism, the
path is \\sl2k3web1.smatherslib.uflib.int\webdirs\journalism. The path to the
directory for the music library is \\sl2k3web1.smatherslib.uflib.int\webdirs\music.
The path to the staff web is \\sl2k3web1.smatherslib.uflib.int\webdirs2\staff-site.
The first step is to verify that you are in Cached Mode:
1. On the Outlook Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
2. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
3. Make sure that Microsoft Exchange Server is selected, and then click Change.
4. In the E-Mail Accounts dialog box, click to select the Use Cached Exchange Mode check box, and then click Next.
5. Click OK, and then restart Outlook 2003.
This is supposed to correct the issue, but we have seen instances where it does not completely correct this. We are still researching a more reliable solution.

What is the latest word on switching to VISTA?

Changing the design is going to require some self-teaching on my part, but I am looking into it.
The SX280 repairs are scheduled for June 23-26th.

Just wondering, and I haven’t seen it anywhere, what does GROVER stand for?
Thanks!

Printing will not be affected. Users will be able to print as usual.
Please note that Music, Journalism, EDU, AFA, Docs, and Maps will all be migrated on August 12th.

Yes they can be named something else. You just want to make sure it is a descriptive name that you can identify post-migration.

My email is now merdavi@uflib.ufl.edu
Does this mean I won’t be getting email from folks who will use this address? Or is it the same as smatherslib.ufl.edu
I’m not sure who has this address. Can I have it forwarded to the new address?
You will still receive mail sent to this address.
Yes, the size limitations are still in place for the Smathers Exchange server. You will want to wait to add things from .pst files until after the migration. The current attachment size limitation is 25MB.
Please note: a correction was made to this post. “smathers user name@uflib.ufl.edu“
I’ve done this several times, but the changes don’t seem to “stick.” I have to redo it every day at least. What gives?
Yesterday, I, along with numerous staff in my Department, followed the commands above with 100% success.
However, this morning the #UFLIB is gone and we are back to the Global address list. I heard this same issue reported in Cat/Met.
How do we make this change permanent??

Has a solution been found for this yet? I have Outlook 2007 and have the Use Cached Exchange Mode box checked.
Still, the Global Address List is the default every time I open Outlook.
Thanks!
