Updating UFDC Help Pages and UFDC
With the new version of UFDC coming out soon (and in test on Mark’s machine in the DLC), we’ll also be updating the UFDC help pages soon. The help pages are here and Mark, Erich, and Laurie all have access to edits, so if we all post ideas and changes here then we’ll be able to stay coordinated while making changes quickly.
For the updates, Mark noted:
- We are now increasingly using javascript to post back the searches. Instead of having an image of the search box, we can have an actual live version, in which the user enters their data and can hit search. We will want to change the javascript to open the results page in a new window (or tab) though. I have seen this functionality with Google, and it is very useful.
- Also, we need to highlight the CONTACT US more I think, as this is being somewhat DE-emphasized in the new version of UFDC. (it no longer appears on the left navigation bar).

Mark replied: Actually, I was thinking something a bit more radical.
See the working search boxes in the link below. This is just cut and pasting HTML from the new UFDC version.
