On 25 & 26 September 2008, 41 delegates from various Dutch Caribbean libraries and institutions held a seminar on Curaçao to discuss possibilities for further cooperation. They were joined by representatives of OCLC and the Digital Library of the Caribbean. The seminar was generally productive. We have worked on four area’s:
· co-operation: what do we want & how to do it
· participating in the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC)
· (jointly) using OCLC for cataloging
· aligning special collection acquisition and preservation
In this document the outcome is summarized in four resolutions. Each resolution contains a set of basic principles concerning the topic. Based on these principles, project steps are defined to put the principles into practice. These are all assigned to an owner. Where defining a project plan is a first project step, you might see that not all other steps are fully specified. This will be part of the project plan.
At the end of this document you will find the names of the institutions supporting the resolutions and staying involved in follow-up. The actions are defined in cooperation with representatives from OCLC and dLOC, who have kindly offered to facilitate the follow-up.
