Let’s Talk About It! Jewish Literature: Identity and Imagination spring book discussion series

The University of Florida George A. Smathers Libraries announces the return of the “Let’s Talk About It: Jewish Literature – Identity and Imagination” book discussion series led by UF English professor Andrew Gordon. The spring series will investigate Modern Marvels: Jewish Adventures in the Graphic Novel.  All programs will be held from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in room 1A of Smathers Library (East). Refreshments are provided and all programs are free and open to the public.

Spring semester discussions:

February 1 A Contract with God by Will Eisner

February 15 The Complete Maus: A Survivor’s Tale by Art Spiegelman

March 1 Julius Knipl, Real Estate Photographer by Ben Katchor

March 15 The Quitter by Harvey Pekar (art by Dean Haspiel)

March 29 The Rabbi’s Cat by Joann Sfar

The library is one of 86 academic and public libraries nationwide receiving grants to host the series developed and supported by Nextbook and the American Library Association. Local support for the program is provided by the George A. Smathers Libraries, the Alachua County Public Library, the University of Florida Center for Jewish Studies and Hillel at UF.
