Graduate Student Orientations

This is a general orientation to the Science Library including how to search for books, articles, and theses & dissertations in the UF Library system. We will also cover how to obtain materials that are not owned by UF, how to contact your subject librarian for research consultations, and how the UF  libraries can support you as a teaching assistant or research assistant at UF.

Avoiding Plagiarism

This class is an overview of how to avoid plagiarism. After presenting the basics of plagiarism, the instructor will lead the class in scenario-based discussions about what constitutes plagiarism in the Sciences & Engineering.

Refworks (Beginning/Advanced)

Refworks (www.refworks.com) is a citation management program that will save you hours of time when trying to put together your thesis or dissertation! These are hands-on workshops demonstrating how to use Refworks from within multiple science & engineering databases. The advanced workshop includes more technical features such as Write-n-cite, a plug-in that allows you to insert citations within Microsoft Word, and RefGrabIt, a Firefox plug-in that allows you to capture citations from the web.
