Founded in February 1938, The Visionaires sought to establish a community organization that could foster civic, cultural and social affairs for African Americans in Gainesville, Florida. Values in Action celebrates the extraordinary young female activists who founded Gainesville’s first formal organization for African-American women, and how they and their successors have enriched the civic, social and educational lives of African-Americans over the past seventy-five years.
